The Johnny Tripps Experience

Known for their well constructed musical stories, consisting of free flowing rhythms laid neatly underneath Hendrix-esque guitar solos, rich, throaty vocals, and intricate melodic bass lines. Johnny Tripps has quickly made a name for themselves. Taught” by the greats, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Winter, David Gilmore, Jerry Garica, Robin Trower, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Mark Knophfler, Jimmy Page, Jim Morrison, Bob Marley and Carlos Santana, Dream Theatre, Skrillex, Geddy Lee playing along while paying close attention to the “little” intricacies that go largely unnoticed by most.
“We want to bring back good music... well constructed music, by people that genuinely take an interest in their craft. That music is played from the heart, from the soul and from the mind all at once.”
“I always knew that this is what I wanted to do but I never accepted it until I got thrown out of college and started a conscious revolution against the machine. I realized I didn’t have to get caught up in it, that everyone has the ability to do whatever makes them happy. So do what makes YOU happy. Playing music? That makes me happy. Being able to touch other people’s lives on such a large scale and get across my message…that makes me happy.”
Tripp started writing and playing when he was about 9 years old. His first favorite band was Van Halen. " Eddie made me fall in love with the guitar, as I grew older however my taste moved more towards the psychedelic rock and blues jam band style music such as Jimi Hendrix, The Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, and Led Zeppelin. There my heart remains for all of time.”
His favorite musicians are Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Winter, Santana, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Alvin Lee, Robin Trower, Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, BB King, John Mayall, Jethro Tull, The Grateful Dead, Bob Marley, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Black Sabbath, Rush, Yes, Cream, Dire Straights, Frank Zappa, Albert King, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Little Feat, Steppenwolf, Grand Funk Railroad, The Allman Brothers.... and many others.
What will you find blasting out of his speakers right now? “My biggest influences right now? I am listening to a lot of the blues. I’ve always listened to the blues. The blues is my favorite.”
One thing is clear... His mission is simple...

Not too much can be said about Xavier Main, the bass player of Johnny Tripps. An odd character with a more than peculiar way about him. Looks like a Goblin of sorts and more than always has some sort of story to recite from his yesteryear. Bass player for Johnny Tripps was an interesting, yet humbling request to have. Something that would rejuvenate a long since burnt passion into a raging fire once again.
He started off playing bass in his room, outside, in the living room, kitchen, in the woods on a battery powered amp, in the halls at school, in parks, in garages; then eventually progressed into small halls and up to larger venues across New England. Eventually he would lose his mind in a science experiment to find a chemical that instantly turned water into the marshmallow stuffing used for Oreo's. It would back fire and click the switch in his brain to permanently on, ultimately changing him into a zombie of sorts who has submersed himself into the music scene in every possible way. From producing, playing, recording, engineering, to teaching... he seems to be on one mission, play until his fingers break.
