Johnny Tripps

Tripp started writing and playing when he was about 9 years old. “I did a lot of writing back then actually as a matter of fact one of the FBATDC instrumentals was built-on one of those songs. My first favorite band was Van Halen. Eddie made me fall in love with the guitar, as I grew older however my taste moved more towards the psychedelic rock and blues jam band style music such as Jimi Hendrix, The Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, and Led Zeppelin. There my heart remains for all of time.”

Known for his well constructed musical “stories” consisting of free flowing rhythms laid neatly underneath screaming, shredding, string bending guitar solos paired with his rich, throaty vocals, Tripp has quickly made a name for himself in the Rock Jam Band scene as the “guy to watch”. He was “taught” by the greats, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Winter, David Gilmore, Jerry Garica, Robin Trower, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Mark Knophfler, Jimmy Page, Jim Morrison, Bob Marley and Carlos Santana, playing along while paying close attention to the “little” intricacies that go largely unnoticed by most. “I want to bring back good music, well constructed music, by people that genuinely take an interest in their craft. That music is played from the heart, from the soul and from the mind all at once. Why is this good? Because it’s genuine.”
